Metrolinx Eglinton LRT

Update – Summer 2010

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT line is a vital part of the Transit City plan as well as the Metrolinx plan for improved transit throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in the coming years.

The Environmental Assessment of the Crosstown route was completed in March of 2010 and work now begins on the design phase of the tunnel and stations.

Phase One of the project to 2020 will run from Jane Street in the west to Kennedy Station in the east.

Phase Two of the project will run west from Jane Street to the Airport. This phase of the project will be funded through a future Metrolinx Investment Strategy.

Starting this summer engineers will begin work on the design of tunnel and stations that will serve the central part of Eglinton between Keele Street and Laird Avenue.

Current Work

Workers will be visible along Eglinton carrying out work such as:

·         utility location

·         geotechnical testing

·         soil analysis

Toronto residents travelling, working and living along Eglinton Avenue will notice preliminary temporary construction activity related to the TTC’s Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit project from August through the winter. Please see the attached notice for info.
